This summer was pretty rich, anime-wise, and it would be a shame if you would miss out on some of the best animes this year has to offer. There were a lot of good animes this summer, but there were bad ones as well. When I say they were bad, I talk from my point of view, so others may like what I dislike. Anyway, enough chitchat. Let’s get down to business and make a list with the top 5 best animes that came out this summer. Again, this is from my point of view, so don’t start hating on me, ok?
This anime has as its protagonist this dude called Staz, a vampire boss of a section of the demon world. But he’s not that interested in human blood as a normal vampire would be. Instead, he is more interested in Japanese culture, so, when Japanese teenage girl, Yanagi Fuyumi, enters the demon city somehow, he goes to greet her. Unfortunately, Fuyumi dies in the middle of a fight between Staz and an intruder on his turf. Disappointed that the Japanese girl died, Staz promises to find a way to bring her back to life. So, as you can see, it is a normal boy meets girl, girl gets killed, boy promises to bring girl back to life kind of situation, which makes this anime really interesting and fun.
This is a pretty interesting anime, and I love it mostly because the action is set 2 years in the future. I just love animes that try to predict the future as inaccurately as possible… Anyway, the “second metropolis” of the Tokyo area, Tachikawa City, has 180,000 people living in it, and among them, there are “Gatchaman”. This word is used to name warriors who fight in special reinforced suits powered by “NOTE”, the manifestation of spiritual powers in living beings. To help protect the Earth against alien criminals, a group of people with latent powers is scouted by a special council. The Gatchaman now have the duty to keep the mysterious entity known as “MESS” in check. This is very entertaining and definitely deserves your attention.
This is an anime that came from the mind of the creator of Full Metal Alchemist. While FMA has alchemy and action, Silver Spoon has… agriculture. I know! It sounds dull and stupid, but to my surprise, this turned out to be very entertaining.
A young city boy named Yugo Hachiken, with a talent for studying, dreams of a life separated from his family. He takes his life in his hands and decides to enroll in an agriculture school, being sure that he will do well in any school. However, agriculture gives him quite a challenge as he has to keep up with his new friends that are already accustomed with the harsh farm life. I found this anime really funny and refreshing, and also, really relaxing. I really enjoy watching other people work.
Now this is one of the most interesting animes ever, thanks to its special concept that dictates that God has abandoned the world on Sunday. Because of this, nobody can die or reproduce anymore. I used to think that not dying and not having kids was cool, but this anime has somehow changed my opinion. Ai, a little girl that is the grave keeper for a village has dug 47 graves for the deaths of the members of the village. By the way, only a grave keeper can lay souls to rest, in this anime. A man called Hampnie Hambart the Man-eating Toy makes his appearance and he slaughters the entire village. The special thing about him is that his name was left behind by Ai’s mother to help her identify her father. So, I advise you to give it a try for yourself, to find out the mystery behind this world.
Finally! An anime about me! The story of Watamoto is about Kuroki Tomoko, a super, mega, hyper socially awkward girl. She is starting high school and she really hopes to be more popular, have a lot more friends and improve the quality of her teenage life. Unfortunately everything goes against her plan and she goes through a lot of awkward situations that make you shut down your computer and go to sleep. It makes you feel so awkward that you will want to make yourself go into standby. I love this anime because I am as socially awkward as Tomoko-chan, and I know that a lot of other girls out there will love it as much as I do, and will want to feel as awkward as Tomoko feels… for some reason… this is… awkward.
I hope you will enjoy these animes as much as I did, and to all the anime-making people I say: I want more cool animes ASAP! But of course nobody will listen to little old me, so I will just have to wait patiently for new awesome anime, like everybody else. Cheers!
