“He’s Asian”- I’m sure you’ve all seen at least one amazing video that had this as its most liked comment. Well, the Japanese continue to be awesome by blowing our minds away with their pyrotechnic displays. But these are not just your average fireworks – they are anime-themed fireworks. How great is it that they combined something awesome with another something awesome, and created pure anime awesomeness? It’s pretty great!

This amazing show of lights took place a few days ago in Japan’s Kanagawa Prefecture, where Shonen Jump celebrated its 45th anniversary, with the usual summer festival. At the said festival, 7 anime series were chosen to light up Japan’s sky at night. These series are the following: One Piece, Torkio, Dragon Ball, Ansatsu Kyōshitsu (Assassination Classroom), Naruto, Gintama and Kochikame.

Here are a few images to get an idea of how the fireworks looked like :

Here we have Luffy’s straw hat and Korosensei’s smiley face. I have to say that I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t use the pirate skull for One Piece, but I guess it would’ve been too complicated to do that.

Next is the Four-Star Dragon ball and Ryo-san’s eyebrow.

Here is Naruto’s Wind Style: Rasen-Shuriken and Elizabeth from Gintama.

And lastly the meat-bone from Toriko (I always get so hungry when I see it).

While searching for more pictures and information about this magnificent anime event, I noticed that anime fans favored Luffy’s hat – and with good reason. My personal favorites were Luffy’s hat and Naruto’s Rasen-Shuriken, because they looked almost the same as in the anime. However, my opinion is totally based on the images I’ve seen over the Internet. You should totally check out the videos

and pictures the Internet has to offer, even though it would’ve been a lot more beautiful to watch this show of lights in the capital of anime, together with other otakus.

So, Japan has proven its love for anime and its anime fans thanks to Shonen Jump and their majestic displays on the night sky, and I bet that these fireworks are just the top of the ice-berg. I’m sure that they will come up with something even more amazing. You want to know why? Because, they are Asians!
