cast Oh look! What’s this? Kiniro no Corda? Wasn’t that an anime a few years back about a girl who had a magic violin and a bunch of hot-looking (feminine-looking) guys vying for her attention, but she was too dense to realize the guys’ feelings and ended up hurting some of them, even dropping them into the dreaded abyss we all know as “The Friendzone”?

Kiniro no Corda was an anime that targeted girls, even milking them by releasing a number of otome games that had one purpose: get the guy you like to fall madly in love with you.

Kiniro was overrated and had a weak, dumb heroine that made a hairdryer look like a genius with an IQ of 200. The cycle of weak, dumb heroines wouldn’t end at Kiniro no Corda though. A new season was just released!

Kiniro no Corda Blue Sky was aired on April 6, 2014. So, the new season’s story goes like this: 8 years after the events of Kiniro no Corda, Kohinata Kanade, a violinist, takes the stage. She transfers to Seiso Gakuen…and we all know where this story will head to. She’ll meet a bunch of good-looking musicians, improve in playing the violin, fight with some mean jealous fan girls (stalkers), fight with the haughtiest good-looking musician she’ll meet, and everything will end with a competition.

So? What new elements will we get from Blue Sky?

I’m guessing nothing since the basic, otome anime formula is just like this: 1 weak heroine + infinity number of guys (jerks) = anexplosive romance!

Would this anime be worth the watch?

Sure, it’d be entertaining enough and might make a few girls sigh, but I wouldn’t probably watch every single episode of this anime.

Kiniro no Corda Blue Sky wouldn’t be as different as Kiniro no Corda. Why waste my time when I know how the story will go? But let’s face the fact. The guys are gorgeous—in a beautiful-girl kind of way.
