One of the best games ever, from my point of view, is pokemon series. It is impossible to try playing that game and not fall in love with it immediately. Gamers of all ages will agree that this is and will remain a master piece when it comes to RPG games. Not only did they made our childhood (or adulthood) happier but they maintain it that way, as the new Pokemon X&Y games will make their appearance on October 12 of this year.
For those of you who don’t know what the Pokemon game series are all about, I will give a little description to peak your interest. The pokemon series are role-playing video games with elements of adventure, where you control a young pokemon trainer, from an over head perspective. Your job is to catch pokemon, level them up, and win turn-based battles with other pokemon trainers. By gaining experience, your pokemon will gain new abilities (which are yours to manage), increase their battle statistics and of course, evolve. You can raise your pokemon’s level and also catch a lot others at the same time, by fighting in random encounters that usual take place in the tall grass areas. You will understand better once you give it a try.
What differentiates the new Pokemon X&Y games from the others are mainly the fully 3D polygonal graphics which will not only make the overworld more interactive, but they will also boost the battle dynamics significantly. Also, the character customization will be a lot more complex, as you will be able to choose the gender, skin tone, and acquiring new outfits for your trainer later in the game.
It was also announced that the players will be able to choose from the new starting pokemon: Chespin, Froakie and Fennekin, as well as from the classic starter pokémon from Pokémon Red and Blue: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, later on in the game. A new element in this series will be the Mega Evolution, which will allow certain pokemons of higher levels, to temporarily evolve into a Mega Evolved Form in battle, using some special items. Note that some pokemon may have more than one possible Mega Form available. Another special feature this game will have to offer will be Sky Battles, in which only flying pokemon will be able to battle while in mid-air.
Besides these awesome new changes, players will have the option to use the Pokemon Bank, a premium storage service, for those who are willing to pay for it. If you have this and the new Pokemon Transporter App, you will be able to use the Transporter to upload pokemon owned in Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 to the Bank, and import them into the Pokemon X&Y games.
I hope October 12 will come as soon as possible, as this is a game that I have waited for a very long time now. Until then, if you haven’t tried the Pokemon game series, feel free to get addicted to them. I know it sounds childish, but believe me; you won’t care about that after you start playing it. Until these promising games make their appearance I urge you to play the older games because… You gotta catch ‘em all!
